Ray also leaves to cherish his memory four children, Pearl (Harold) Plato, Norm (Lani) Jassman, Bradley (Patricia “Trish”) Jassman, and Raylene (Daryl) Elsasser; twelve grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one brother, Alex (Jackie) Jassman; three sisters-in-law, Anne Janke, Elsie (Louie) Kirschenman and Idella (Raymond) Ehnisz; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ray was predeceased by his parents, Simon and Rosina Jassman; one grandson, Trent Plato; four brothers, Robert, Robert (June), “Jay” Julius (Alice), and Ted (Elsie); two sisters, Lydia (Max) Elgie and Tillie (Fred) Siewert; one brother-in-law, Adolf Janke; and one sister-in-law, Katie Roth. It is with great sadness that the family of Reinhold “Ray” Jassman announces his passing in Medicine Hat, Alberta on October 14, 2013 at the age of 88 years. Ray was born and raised on the family homestead west of Mendham and received his education at Elaine School. Ray accepted the Lord as a teenager and lived his life serving his Saviour. He left the family farm and worked alongside his brother, Bob, in the sugarbeet fields in Southern Alberta. He also worked at Filmore, Saskatchewan hauling bundles of grain. Ray came home and married Viola Roth, October 6, 1946 at Burstall Hope Evangelical Church. In the spring of 1947 they moved to their farm NW of Mendham where they raised their 4 children. He loved to farm, especially his cattle and had such patience when handling them. A councillor for the RM of Happyland for 20 years, Ray was always willing to help a neighbor or friend. In 1991 they retired to Medicine Hat where Ray was always active in the church and loved to sing. He joined “The Men’s Chorus” at Hillcrest Church. His bass voice was always recognizable. They made one more move to Chinook Village in 2002 where they continue to reside. We as a family loved to listen to Dad pray. His blessing was always a highlight of our family functions. We will miss your unconditional love for your family, your cheerful whistle and beaming smile. See you in heaven.
