Mr. Gerny G. Becker of Manyberries, beloved husband of 45 years of Mrs. Carol Becker, passed away at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Saturday, August 24th at the age of 68 years. Gerny also leaves to cherish his memory his son, Marty (Heidi); his grandchildren, Tuftin and Bentley; his father and mother-in-law, Leroy and Helen Wegner; two brothers, Minor (Jeanette) and Dale (Brenda); one brother-in-law, Russ Wegner; as well as four nephews and five nieces. Gerny was born on April 16, 1945 and grew up on the family farm at Hilda, Alberta. He rode the range from the British Blocks at Suffield to the Rocky Mountains at Cardston and everywhere in between. His greatest enjoyment was helping and watching his son, Marty become a Canadian Champion Calf Roper and NFR qualifier. Gerny’s latest joy came from spending time with his two grandchildren and visiting Marty and Heidi in Morgan Mill, Texas. He retired in December 2011 to the family ranch in Manyberries and loved every minute of it. The funeral service will be held at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, on Thursday, August 29th, 2013 at 12:30 p.m. with Reverend Dr. Shane P. Andrus officiating. At the family’s request, please come in your blue jeans and casual attire. The Interment will take place at Comrey Cemetery after the luncheon at approximately 4:00 p.m. and the family invites friends out to join them. After the interment, all are welcome to stop at the Ranch as Marty will be barbequing.
