Emilie Herter passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 30th, 2013 at the age of 98. Emilie was born on June 27th, 1915 in the Fox Valley district and was predeceased by her husband, David Herter, in 1987. She was also predeceased by 4 brothers, Mathews, Ferdinard, Christian and Samual; and by 4 sisters, Susan, Elizabeth, Christine and Martha. She leaves to cherish her memory, 1 daughter, Dolores Pearl Schuster; and 2 sons, Jerald (Connie) Herter and Vernon (Brenda) Herter; 7 grandchildren, Shane, Dennell, Valerie, Kevin, Shauna, Kimberly and Pamela; 11 great grandchildren; and 3 step great grandchildren. Dave and Emilie were married on October 17th, 1939 at St. Peter Lutheran Church. They farmed in the Golden Prairie district until 1974, retiring to Medicine Hat. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, on Monday, August 5th, 2013 from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held in ST. PETER LUTHERAN CHURCH, 758 - 8th Street SE, on Tuesday, August 6th, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Julianna Wehrfritz-Hanson officiating. A private family interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Emilie’s memory may be made to the St. Peter Lutheran Church, 758 - 8th Street SE, Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 1M5.
