Fay and Bill Smith from Scotland

We were so sorry to receive the sad news about our very dear friend Sheila. The first time we met Sheila, was when we were visiting from Scotland to our aunt, Peggy Cowan and cousin Donald. Sheila invited us all for supper. We can still picture her house with the garden full of flowers and though we had not met her before, within minutes it was like we had been friends with Sheila all our lives. Sheila had a way of putting people at ease with her warm friendly manner and jovial spirit. On our many visits to Canada since then we have many cherished memories of our time spent with Sheila. Going to visit Sheila was always on the agenda and she never let us return to Scotland without a gift from her to take home. For the last few years we have been phoning each other regularly and when Sheila answered the phone she used to say to Bill ‘Is that my Toy Boy from Scotland?’ and we had some laughs and jokes and latterly a few tears. Bill used to smile to himself when they were ending the call and Sheila would say ‘God bless you son and thanks for phoning ‘. She faced her illness bravely with great courage, and we know there were times it must have been really tough for her and the family but we think her strength of spirit, love, faith and caring nature helped you all to travel a difficult path together. Sheila is no longer in our lives to share but in our hearts she will always be there. Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day.
