Obituary for Edith Ellen Cocks (Cyster)

Edith Ellen "Nell" Cocks (nee Cyster) died peacefully on Monday, October 24, 2016 at the age of 100 years. She was predeceased by her loving husband Robert "Bob" Cocks in 2008; her son, Gary Bruce in 2010; her granddaughter, Heather Cocks in 1982; her brothers, Harry and Allan Cyster; and sister, Doris Woodcock. Nell leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Jim (Patricia) of Cypress County and Don (Kimberly) of Medicine Hat; grandsons, Carl (Dee Cox), David (Karla), Sean (Jody) Collard, Andrew (Sara), Joel and Jordan (Jessica LaChance); and nine great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Connie Cyster and Gladys Cocks; and many nieces and nephews.
Nell lived her entire life in Medicine Hat and was a founding member of the All Saints' Anglican Church Women. She and Bob enjoyed spending time with their many friends square dancing, camping, playing cards and traveling to Europe, the Caribbean and Eastern Canada. Nell loved to knit, garden, play bridge, bake and especially enjoyed gatherings with friends and family. There was a get-together this past June to celebrate Nell's 100th birthday and she was very thankful for the many friends and relatives who came from across Canada to visit with her. Nell was a kind-hearted, cheerful and loving woman who will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
When Nell and Bob needed extra assistance in 2002 they moved into Good Samaritans, where Nell resided until her passing. The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the exceptional staff at Good Samaritans for their many years of compassionate care given to our much-loved mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
