Obituary for Mildred Mary Millington-Ellis

It is with sadness we announce the passing of our Mom, Mildred Millington-Ellis, on Wednesday, April 20th, 2016 at the age of 92 years in Medicine Hat. Millie had been ill for the past three years, but with a strong will and much determination was able to maintain her mobility and continue to enjoy her family. She had a good sense of humour even as she was facing serious health issues. Millie was predeceased by her loving husbands, Art Millington (1991) and Jim Ellis (2005); her grandson, Major Jay Fox (2011), her great-granddaughter, Tatum Schuett (2002), and her brothers, Fred Walld and Carl Walld. Millie leaves to mourn her passing two sons, Roy (Collette) Millington of Vauxhall and Larry Millington of Medicine Hat; three daughters, Virginia (Lyal) Fox of Dauphin, Manitoba, Marion Cross of Bracebridge, Ontario, and Brenda (Ed) Surbey of St. Albert; and her daughter-in-law, Chris Millington of Medicine Hat. Millie treasured all of her fourteen grandchildren and thirty-eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Norma Burron and Ella Baker of Winnipeg; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Millie and Art operated Chinook Holsteins in Medicine Hat for many years while raising their family, later retiring to Langley, BC where they enjoyed thirteen years of good health, tending to their prize flowers as active members of the Langley Garden Club. They made their way back to Alberta in 1990 and resided in Brooks. In recent years, Millie had taken up residence back in Medicine Hat at Valleyview Nursing Home and Sunnyside Retirement Lodge.
