Obituary for William George "Bill" French

William George "Bill" French
Leaving us much too soon, Bill "Billy" French passed away on October 28th, 2015. Recently celebrating his 60th birthday with friends and family, the long-time resident of Consul, SK leaves behind his loving mother, Annie; his three children, Corey, Megan and Darcy (their mom Maureen); siblings, Joanne (Jim) and Tommy (Marjorie); nieces and nephews, Renee and Trent Behrman, Jodi and Ryan French; uncle, Louis Stetar (June); uncle, John; and aunts, Irene and Saloma French; and numerous cousins and friends that were very special to him. He was predeceased by his dad, Joe; both sets of grandparents; his nephew, Trevor Behrman; and uncle, Paddy French.
From the time he was a young boy, Billy was known as a hard worker. As a young man he spent a short time in Fort St. John in the oil field, the CPR and then started farming with his dad and eventually took over the family farm. He spend the majority of his life on the French family farm in Consul. He took great pride in raising his cows and was a proficient welder who spent a lot of time making panels and feeders. You could always find him fixing something in the shop. Billy enjoyed a good game of rummy and an adult beverage with his buddies.
Per Bill's wishes no funeral was held. A private family celebration of life was held prior to his cremation.
Bill's favourite song was by the Canadian band Trooper and for those who knew him the lyrics could not be more fitting:
"We're Here For A Good Time (Not A Long Time)"
A very good friend of mine
Told me something the other day
I'd like to pass it onto you
Cause I believe what he said to be true
We're here for a good time
Not a long time
So have a good time
The sun can't shine everyday

The family would like to thank our family and friends for their love and support, prayers, calls, cards, visits, flowers and food during this time. Sharing of your memories, pictures and time means the world to us. We take great comfort in the wonderful friends and family Billy had in his life.
We will miss you Billy!
