Henderson Family Reunion

Grant was two years younger than myself but one of fifty grandchildren in the Henderson clan.  Instilled in him was a kind and fun-loving nature and a love for kids.  This was evident when my son, one of the younger great-grandchildren, took part in the relays organized by Uncle Ed at one of the many Henderson Reunions held in Medicine Hat. Grant showed his generous spirit by taking Connor under his wing and running the three legged race with him.  I remember Connor's face lighting up as he ran the race and then giggling with joy when Grant handed him a bundle of candy.  I can, to this day, visualize my son, wearing a blue Henderson Reunion t-shirt, running up to me and showing me his candy and telling me how much fun he was having.  Grant met Connor for the first time that weekend.   What struck me most was his act of kindness; he made Connor feel important, welcome and part of the festivities.  I was grateful for Grant on that day and knew then why he was such a respected educator in his community.

I am greatly saddened by Grant's passing and send my condolences to his family and friends, as well as to all of his colleagues in the Medicine Hat School District.  He will be greatly missed.
