Senior Services is a division of the Community Development Department of the City of Medicine Hat. Through outreach and internal programs involving the coordination of 850 volunteers involved in 50 programs, Senior Services provides facility management, partnerships and 20 support programs as well as a comprehensive food services component including 60,000 Meals on Wheels annually. Senior Services promotes the well-being of people 50+ through various support services which are accessed through the Veiner and Strathcona Centres. These centres are both run by a dedicated team of City staff members, as well as a huge amount of support from volunteers and other members of the Veiner and Strathcona Centre Communities.

Veiner Centre is a vibrant community offering social networks, services and support to people 50-plus in Medicine Hat. Veiner Centre is a "home away from home" for its 1500+ members. People come to Veiner Centre to meet with friends, eat great home-cooked meals, volunteer, and take part in our diverse activities. Above all, they come to have fun! Veiner Centre was opened in 1975 and was named after Medicine Hat's former mayor, Harry Veiner. Veiner Centre is the home of Senior Services, a division of the Community Development Department.
