Obituary for Winnifred Joyce "Win" Walker

Winnifred “Win” Walker of Medicine Hat, passed away peacefully, with family by her side, on Tuesday, March 15th, 2022 at the age of 89 years. Win is lovingly remembered by her son, Clark (Denise) Walker of Medicine Hat, AB; daughters, Shirley Walker of Medicine Hat, AB and Marilyn (Larry) Hudec of Jenner, AB; brother, Gordon (Julie) Faulkner of Maple Creek, SK; sister, Shirley (John) Hester of Fort McLeod, AB; six grandchildren (their spouses), nine great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Win was born on November 28th, 1932 to parents Harry and Maisie Faulkner in Maple Creek, SK. Her education was received at a small country school in Alberta and then high school in Maple Creek. Merle and Win farmed and ranched in the Longfellow area for over forty years. After retiring, she settled in Medicine Hat and worked as a security guard at The Bay for several years and remained a lifetime member of the Longfellow Community Association. Win loved to golf and play cards; she was particularly sharp at Bridge and loved a good game of Poker. She never passed up a chance to go on a tour of the crops and cattle. She always enjoyed the company of family and made new friends wherever she went. She truly enjoyed watching the grandkids hockey games, baseball games, horse events and riding. She loved a good pancake breakfast, all the birthday parties, harvest time fun at the Walker Farm, branding at the Hudec Ranch, wild windy campouts at Dinosaur Park, and bets placed at the pony chuckwagon races. She had more laughs to herself than anybody else at the family get togethers. Win felt blessed and lucky to be at these, sometimes wild, parties with her big kids and her little ones too. Family was very important to Win, and she was proud of her family for being smart and successful. She wanted to thank her kids, Shirley, Marilyn, and Clark, for looking after her so well. Win loved fun, laughs, and life. At her request, a private family Graveside will be held at Hillside Cemetery.
