Obituary

Obituary for Valerie Anna Rance (May)

Valerie Anna Rance of Medicine Hat, passed away peacefully, following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, on Monday, December 9th, 2019, in the company of loved ones at the age of 75 years. Valerie leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Sheri Lee (Mitch) Stovka of Medicine Hat and Terry Lynne Johnston of Gibson, B.C.; grandchildren, Breeanna, Katie, Lowen, Landin and T.J.; brother, Raymond (Mary Lynn) May; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Soloman and Kathrine May; sister, Marlene Davidson; and son-in-law, Lance Johnston. Valerie lived her life with joy and determination. She was the co-owner of B & V Oil and Gas Service Limited for 30 years. Valerie was a strong and energetic woman with a great sense of humour. Her family came first, and she was caring and supporting of their dreams and ambitions. She relished the time spent with them travelling to places like the Cook Islands, Mayan Riviera, Hawaii, and Ixtapa. She had many dear friends who meant the world to her. Her favourite past times include cherished visits with dear friends in the comfort of her home, coffee time with the girls at Tim Hortons and movie outings with friends. She was a dedicated Medicine Hat Tigers fan during hockey season and during the summer, she could be seen at the Medicine Hat Speedway cheering on her son-in-law, Mitch. She shared a very special bond with her two granddaughters, Breeanna and Katie. She cherished every single moment that she shared with them and was always a beloved best friend to them. Her loyal dog, Buddy was without a doubt a constant comfort and companion that she whole-heartedly adored. Valerie’s memory will forever be cherished by all those who knew and loved her. A Private Family Time of Remembrance will take place at a later date. Memorial gifts in Valerie's memory may be made to the Arthritis Society, 393 University Avenue, Suite 1700, Toronto, ON M5G 1E6. Condolences may be sent through www.saamis.com or to condolences@saamis.com subject heading Valerie Rance.

I was so saddened to hear of your mom’s passing, and wish to convey my deepest sympathies to all of you 💕🦋 Val was a beautiful soul, always happy to see me throughout the years I had the pleasure of knowing her. I remember her magnificent naniamo bars that she would bring camping when I was little and still make her recipe to this day. Rest In Peace Val 🦋

Dear family of Valerie: So sorry for your loss. I knew Val a very long time ago. We grew up as young girls and young women. I haven't been to Medicine hat in sometime, so haven't been in touch for a few years.
Bless you all. She was a very caring lady.
