Obituary for Stanley Hoffman

Mr. Stan Hoffman of Medicine Hat passed away on Wednesday, September 7th, 2022 at the age of 83 years. Stan was born March 30th, 1939 at Three Hills, AB. Stan was the youngest of three children of Sigmund and Marie Hoffman. Stan was raised in the Edson area and shortly after high school he enlisted in the RCAF serving three years in the Maritimes. Upon discharge from the military he pursued a number of interests including a five year tour in the oilfield/construction industry having worked on the Banff/Jasper Highway and the Waterton Dam. Stan volunteered for many activities outside of his daily work and served many years as a volunteer fireman in Peace River, the last several years as a Fire Chief for the town of Peace River and the correctional centre adjacent to the town of Peace River. Prior to entering the Alberta Correctional Service, where Stan started as a guard and retired as the Director of the Medicine Hat Remand Centre, he served as a full-time fireman with the 3950 Air tanker Refueling Group – USAF, at Cold Lake, AB. He also served a short period of time as a police constable in Northern Alberta. Stan leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Glen (Tracey) Hoffman, of Pincher Creek, AB and Shawna (Ryan) Felesky of Medicine Hat; and their mother, Judy Fried; grandchildren, Kaitlin (Caleb), Kyle, Rylan, and Reid; nephews, Jim Dau and Barry Dau; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Sigmund and Marie Hoffman; brother, Fred; and his sister, Betty. In keeping with Stan’s wishes there will be no formal service. The private family interment was held at SAAMIS PRAIRIE VIEW CEMETERY in Medicine Hat.
