Obituary for Simon Hobson

It is with no small amount of sadness that the family of Simon Hobson announce his passing. On October 13, 2023, at the age of 64 years. Never letting anything get him down, Simon remained a joker and always tried to ensure that everyone was happy and safe, often wanting to be involved and eager to participate. Even when dementia took his words, he would still communicate often indicating his willingness to help with, "I'm here" or "this one?". Throughout his life Simon was many things to many people, a loyal friend, a supportive father, a hard-working husband working in tandem with Karen Hobson to provide the best possible life for his family. He attended the Nav Canada training institute to seek a better job, which he would later take a teaching position at helping others like him achieve their goals and provide travelers with the best trained people to ensure their safety. He was a coach, director, and player of sports, he particularly loved playing hockey as a goalie and when his knees no longer er allowed him to skate, he played sledge hockey with Medicine Hat Adaptive Sports. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Karen; four children, Andrew (Shantel), Amanda (Greg), Adam, Samantha; seven grandchildren, Jordan, Isaac, Emilia, Shelby, Oliver, Anthony, Theodore; as well as his sister, Linda Stickel. He is predeceased by his son, Clayton, and his parents, James and Margaret. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him. In keeping with Simon’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral. A gathering of friends and family will be held upstairs at All Saints Anglican Church, 606 12th Street SW, Medicine Hat , AB on November 25th, 2023, at 1:00 pm following a short prayer. We encourage all those who are attending to wear nerdy attire. The family would like to encourage donations to Medicine Hat Adaptive Sports and the Alzheimer’s Society to help others continue their lives in a healthy way.
