Obituary for Sheila Rose Jacques (McLauchlin)

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Sheila Rose Jacques announce her passing on Thursday January 4th,2024 at the age of 73 years. She will be missed and lovingly remembered by her husband of 54 years, Bob Jacques; sons, Michael(Deirdre)Malone, Darren(Alison), and their children Cara and Leah; sister-in-law, Susan Ford; niece, Jackie Ford(Scott)and their daughter Zoe; brother-in-law, Frank Jacques(Boon)and their children, Lin(Mark)and Ben.
She was predeceased by her parents, Allan and Anna McLauchlin; parents-in-law, Gerry and Margaret Jacques; and brother and sister-in-law, Alvin and Pauline McLauchlin. Sheila was born in Calgary on September 6th 1950. She met Bob while working at Holy Cross Hospital and they were married on February 6th, 1970. Together they welcomed sons, Michael and Darren, and they moved the family from Calgary to Carstairs. Bob's work took them to Maple Ridge, BC where they resided until moving back to Alberta, spending a number of years in Airdrie. In 1992, they settled in Medicine Hat, opening Ziebart Tidy Car and, eventually, CertaPro Painters. Sheila spent 14 years working in the deli department at Sobey's until her retirement. Sheila kept herself busy by spending countless hours tending to her beautiful garden, growing a variety of flowers and vegetables. She was an avid reader and enjoyed baking, puzzles, diamond painting, and going to the gym daily with Bob.
Winters were spent in Surprise, Arizona along with many road trip adventures with their travel buddies and dear friends, Wayne and Addie Ressler.
Above everything else, Sheila was a devoted and proud Gramma to Cara and Leah. They were her pride and joy and such a light in her life. She will always have a special place in their hearts, and their memories of her, filled with love. Sheila will forever be remembered as a kind, gentle, dedicated and beautiful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be deeply missed. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life to honour her will take place on Saturday, February 3rd, 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the Carriage House located on The Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede Grounds.
