Born in Sturgis, SK, the third and last child of Arthur and Isabelle Carlisle, Roberta (Bobbie) McLellan made Medicine Hat, AB her home for over 70 years. She is mourned by her loving family, niece, Shelly (Jim) MacPhail of Medicine Hat and their family; Michael MacPhail (Shirley Walker) and his children, Jocelyn and Rylan; Jill (Justin) Boksteyn and their children Jaymes and Nixon, all of Medicine Hat; niece, Joanne Walton of Vancouver; nephew, Lyle (Lynette) Walton of Calgary; Donna Pottle and family of Ottawa, ON; nephew, Eric (Gail) Helgeson of Medicine Hat and their family, Dee (Jay) Ritchie and their children, Avery and Lochlan; Jay (Stacy) Helgeson and their children, Tyson, Jaxson and Madison; nephew, Dean (Naomi) Powell of Calgary and their children, Jacob and Nancy; niece, Louise (Paul) Sutherland and family; nephews, Chad (Kaziko) Gertzen and Aaron (Thalia) Gertzen and their families and their father, Doug Gertzen; “adopted” son, Rod Thurlow ( Janice Tidy) and “adopted daughter” Sandy Thomson. She is also survived by her late husband Gordon Vaughan’s family, Grant and Marylynn Vaughan of Medicine Hat and their two sons, Tyrell Vaughan and his children and Jeremy (Kitty) Vaughan. Roberta was predeceased by her husband, Bill McLellan (2000); their infant son, Robert William (1965)her second husband, Gordon Vaughan (2014); her parents; her sister, Joyce (Jo) Walton Kiesel; and her brother, Art (Ena) Carlisle. With so many good friends and an extended family whom she adored and who returned her affection tenfold, Roberta considered herself blessed. She especially wanted to thank Shelly and Jim MacPhail, and Eric and Gail Helgeson, for their unwavering love and support over the years. She will be deeply missed and always remembered for her unfailing kindness and generosity, delicious cooking and baking, stellar story-telling, and her self-deprecating sense of humour—Roberta could find the funny side of almost any situation. Her support will also be missed by local baseball and hockey teams – an avid fan through good times and bad; Roberta held seasons tickets to the Blue Jays, Mavericks and Cubs, as well as the Tigers dating back to their launch in 1970. A private graveside service will be held at HILLSIDE CEMETERY.
