Obituary for Richard Wilson McDonald

1946 ~ Richard McDonald ~ 2022
It is with great sadness that the family of Richard Wilson McDonald announce his passing on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at the age of 76 years. Richard was born May 13th, 1946 at Cornwall, Ontario, son of Athol and Edna McDonald. Rick was a “travelling man”, and the song, “I’ve Been Everywhere Man”, pretty much describes him. He loved driving, travelling, and seeing new places. His work life allowed him to travel far and wide, from Melville Island in the cold north to Indonesia in the heat, as well as extensively in Canada and the USA. Driving many miles for his jobs did not dampen his enthusiasm for travelling; family vacations always involved him chauffeuring the family to Ontario and B.C, or elsewhere. Rick and Dodie were married in 1974. They were blessed with a daughter, Kimberlie, in 1975 and a son, Adam, in 1978. Rick loved his family deeply, including his grandchildren who brought him great joy. He will forever be watching over Ben, Erin, Sinjin, Owen, Brody, Arizona, Meadow, and Mace; as well as great granddaughter, Lexi. Rick leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Dodie; his daughter, Kimberlie (Dwayne) Soper; son, Adam (Keri Robinson); his grandchildren and great grandchild. He is also survived by his sister, Dianne (John) Angus; mother-in-law, Mildred Fleming; as well as cousins, extended family, nieces and nephews, and many cherished friends. Rick had a great sense of humour which never failed him even through his many health issues. Happy fishing and happy trucking Rick. The Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at 11:00 am at the Royal Canadian Legion, 702 2 St SE, Medicine Hat, AB T1A 0E1.
