Obituary for Reid Mast

Reid Andrew Mast (The Legend) passed away on June 9, 2022 at the age of 73 years with his family at his side. Born in Medicine Hat, on March 6, 1949, he was the third of four children born to Al and Lois Mast. Reid attended various schools in the Hat and upon completion commenced his working life. During this time he met, dated and then married Robyn Marty and they set up a life together. Two children came along, a son, Kelly and a little later daughter, Stacy. Reid was employed in various jobs, selling furniture, the trucking industry, and Hycroft China. Eventually he completed trade school for Pipefitting at NAIT. This allowed him to work at many construction projects throughout Alberta, finally being employed with Canadian Fertilizer’s maintenance company, Jacobs Catalytic, here in Medicine Hat where he remained until his retirement as senior plant foreman. Reid was a very hard worker and loved wood working and over the years refurbished his and Robyn’s first home as well as building two other beautiful homes, one on an acreage just southwest of the city. Reid loved the outdoors, enjoyed a good day of fishing whether summer or winter, hunting, camping, golfing, watching the Blue Jays play baseball and the Raptors playing basketball. Reid is survived by his son, Kelly Mast (Jennifer Berndt) and daughter, Stacy Feist (Everett Dalton); grandchildren, Kelsie Mast, Kyah Feist, Tyson Mast; great grandson, Gaige Hingley; his partner, Eileen Witts; brother, Paul (Sharon) Mast; sister, Kathy (Dave) Miller; sister- in-law, Vicki (Terry) Stuber; good friend, Linda Caswell (David Mast); as well as many nieces, nephews, family members and long time friends. Reid was predeceased by his parents, Almer and Lois Mast; wife, Robyn; brother, David; sister-in-law, Patricia Mast, daughter-in-law, Stacey Mast; and son-in-law, Les Feist. A celebration of Reid’s life will be held privately by family and friends at a later date.
