Obituary

Obituary for Randall Murray Knight

Randall Murray Knight has left his family after 38 years of struggles with mental illness. He is survived by his parents, Murray and Renee Knight; siblings, Shelley Rolfe (Kirk), Jason Knight (Kerry); and his cherished nieces and nephew, Maranda Rolfe (Kelvin), Megan Rolfe, Morgan Rolfe, Kade Knight, and Kennedi Knight. He was very proud of his nieces and nephew. His furry children, Loki, Freya, and Balder, remain as part of the family in good hands. Many thanks to the extended family and close friends that played a large role in all stages of his life. Randy graduated from the University of Alberta with a degree in Education and Criminology. His passion for instilling life lessons was facilitated by his position as an Educator in the Edmonton area and, most recently, over the last 10 years, in Medicine Hat. His greatest impact on the students was through ensuring that all had a sense of belonging to the school community. Randy empowered others to always be the best they could be. He was an active member of the school community through volunteering for school trips, coaching badminton, building projects in his CTS class to support other student groups, and starting a food pantry to ensure students were ready for learning. He was a craftsman working with his hands to build furniture, decks, sheds, and homes. As a self-taught handyman, he was able see the greater picture and bring to life his vivid ideas. The immense creativity he had emerged as homemade games to enhance learning and challenge strategic play. Randy had a huge, giving heart that allowed him to always see the potential in people and putting them before himself. He had an infectious smile that quickly spread, spanning ear to ear. He will be greatly missed as a son, brother, uncle, teacher, and friend. If desired, Randy’s legacy of caring and creating positive impact can be carried on through donations to the Kids Help Phone, 300 - 439 University Ave, Toronto, ON M5G 1Y8 or to the Prince Albert SPCA, 1125 N Industrial Dr, Prince Albert, SK S6V 6J9. A family fellowship will be held at a later date. Condolences may be sent through www.saamis.com or to condolences@saamis.com subject heading Randy Knight.

My condolence to Mr. Knight's family; he was an amazing teacher with so much passion and spirit to give. I knew him since elementary as a substitute and had him as my construction teacher through high school. He always encouraged me even when I was not sure of myself and helped me grow. In my last year of high school, he was there to listen to me rant every morning through my hard days, and I will always cherish the time I knew him. The last time I saw him was at a gas station where we talked about my university plans, and the support and excitement he held for me will continue to encourage me. From now and always I will never forget you Randy Knight, I give my hope and love to your family.
