Norma leaves to cherish her memory her three children, Jody Koenig (Tom Briggs) of Redcliff, AB, Wendy Lacey of Calgary, AB, Bert Lacey of Rosetown, SK and daughter-in-law Linda Wasko-Lacey of Eastend, SK; six grandchildren, Lori Koenig (Jason Duern), Carla Koenig, Tammy (Todd) Fleming, Shawna (Jason) Wogrinc, April (Chris) Williams, and Taylor (Lauren Worobec) Lacey. She is also survived by ten great grandchildren; Zander, Sierra, Emilee, Eden, Devyn, CJ (TJ), Carli (Trevor), Colton, Brody and Sidney; four great-great grandchildren, Wyatt, Grayson, Quinn and Cooper; one sister, Clara Johnson of Calgary, AB; sister-in-law, Joyce Ulsanden; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Norma was predeceased by Gordon Lacey, her husband of 56 years; her parents, Thomas (Clarence) and Olga Ulsanden; her brother, Cliff Ulsanden; and her special grandson, Clayton Armstrong.
Norma was born in 1932 to Olga and Thomas (Clarence) Ulsanden and raised in Drumheller, AB with her sister Clara and brother Clifford. She met Gordon Lacey in Drumheller and they were married in Eastend, SK on July 27, 1950. Gordon and Norma lived in Drumheller and were blessed with three children; two daughters, Jody, Wendy and then in 1959, son, Bert. Their family moved to Eastend, SK in 1966, then moved to Bowden, AB in 1971 and permanently settled in Innisfail, AB in 1972. Norma moved into Autumn Glen Lodge in Innisfail in 2013. She was then moved to a care facility in Airdrie and then Calgary in 2018 and died peacefully at St. Joseph’s Home in Medicine Hat on March 10, 2021.
Norma was a beautiful, fashionable woman who always demonstrated elegance and grace. She loved her family and took great pride in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Norma’s passion for fashion and jewellery came honestly and was fostered by her Mother, who spent countless hours designing and sewing elaborate and beautiful dresses for her to wear when she was young. She loved to spend her time in her garden, growing beautiful flowers and tending her bird feeders. In her leisure time she enjoyed reading, knitting and crocheting, spending time with her family, frequent coffee dates with her friends, and shopping. Norma was a petite woman with a huge personality, feisty character and mighty presence.
Celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Condolences may be sent through www.saamis.com or to condolences@saamis.com subject heading Norma Lacey.
