Obituary for Nick Deis

Nicholas Ralph “Nick” Deis of Medicine Hat, AB, passed away suddenly on Thursday, November 24th, 2022 at the age of 45 years. Nick was born June 14th, 1977. He lived his life in Medicine Hat to the fullest and it took a heart attack to take down our Nick. He loved life and always had a smile on his face. It brought him great joy to make everyone around him happy. Nick loved fast cars, driving fast cars and he loved his friends and buddies like they were his world. Everyone was always on the look out because Nick loved playing pranks on everyone...with no-exceptions. Nick’s newest buddy was a black four footed furball named Tiger. He said she was the smartest cat in the world and loved her dearly. The highlight of Nick’s life, aside from the many friends he made along the way, was when he was in Scotland training to be a directional drilling coach. While in Scotland he was fortunate to play a round of golf at St. Andrew's course. Nick leaves to cherish his memory his mom, Judy Wonnenberg; his brother, David (Chrissy) and their son Avery; as well as stepsisters, Linda and her family and Suzanne and her family. Nick was loved and cherished by so many that is impossible to list everyone (and I fear I may miss somebody) but know that he treasured you all. Nick was predeceased by his father, Ralph Deis and his stepfather, Peter Wonnenberg. Nick’s friends and family are invited to attend his Memorial Service at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1 Dunmore Road SE, Medicine Hat, AB T1A 1Z5, on Friday, December 2nd, 2022 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Rev. Jeff Lackie officiating. Family and friends that are unable to attend in person, are invited to join the service virtually by logging on to and joining the live webcast on Nick’s memorial page on the above date at 1:55 pm. A virtual guest book is available on the livestream page for those participating remotely. Memorial gifts in Nick Deis's memory may be made to the Alberta Heart & Stroke Foundation, PO Box 460 STN K, Toronto, ON M4P 9Z9. Condolences may be sent through or to subject heading Nicholas Deis.
