Obituary for Nadine Marie Getz

Our Deenie darling, our one of a kind bee, she is safe in the loving arms of those that went before her.
Her beloved pug and nurse extraordinaire, Cheery; her grandparents, Alice Williams, Albert Williams, John and Florentina Getz and Joan Widmer; as well as her aunties, Pat Coates, Lori Williams, Lyn Wallin and Joanne Voeller. She is survived by her brother and protector Justin “Zsa Zsa”; nephew, Frost; her Mother bird, Maureen Getz (Garth Widmer); her father, Harvey Getz (Penny); her four BEST friends, Samantha (Travis), her soulmate from childhood, Amanda “Pan” always the friend who just gets her, Rhonda “LaFonda”, the sister she never had and Elise her artistic BC bestie; her fairy Goddaughters, Julia and Audrey (who believe that Auntie Deenie would be the Angel with the largest wings, have a halo crown with a pug on it, wear a sparkly white dress aaand rainbow socks); as well as her stepbrothers, stepsisters and their children, along with aunts, uncles and cousins from the blended families and her entire wide circle of friends… you all meant the world to her. Nadine’s dialysis “career” was a very important part of her last 15 years and she considered her treatment as her job and everyone on the unit as her co-workers. Thank you to each and every one of you for your tireless dedication, kindness and support. Miss Deenie Marie will be remembered as a compassionate, joke telling, belly laughing, engaging personality that was accepting of all humans & beliefs. She was always good with the right words, incredibly concise, extremely brave and courageously resilient, all while being genuinely vulnerable. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints she was able to fully share of herself with others. A Celebration of her life will take place at a later date. Due to the nature of Nadine’s illness, she has requested that blood donations and/or financial donations be made to Canadian Blood Services (www.blood.ca) in her memory in lieu of flowers. Condolences may be sent through www.saamis.com or to condolences@saamis.com subject heading Nadine Getz.
