Obituary for Michael Yasinchuk

It is with heavy hearts and fond memories that we announce the sudden passing of Michael Yasinchuk. Michael was born in Warsaw, Poland on October 14, 1927. He passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s in Medicine Hat, Alberta on September 18, 2022 at the age of 94. He is survived by his daughters, Lynn Purych, Deneen & Twyla Yasinchuk; his sister, Stella McKone; his brother, Johnny (Nadine) Yasinchuk; and by many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. Michael and his family emigrated from Poland in 1930 to Saskatchewan where they lived with family until settling in the Moon Lake district. Michael was an industrious, hard-working, social, kind, caring man who loved life. He was a self-taught “Jack of All Trades”. He worked in the coal mines, oilfield, railroad, trucking industry, farming, mechanics, and pipe-fitting. Michael spent much of his retirement years in Terrace, B.C singing at the local pub, picking mushrooms and hanging with the guys at Gus’s Pool Hall. In 2010, he moved to Medicine Hat to be with his daughters. His greatest joys were spending time with his family and friends. He will be forever missed. The Memorial Service will be held at Saamis Memorial Funeral Chapel, 1 Dunmore Road, SE, Medicine Hat, Ab on Monday, September 26, 2022 at 1:30 pm with Rev. Roland Weisbrot officiating.
