Obituary for Mary-Lou Ann McCrodan

1952 ~ Mary-Lou McCrodan-Povey ~ 2019
It is with hurting and heavy hearts that we share the passing of Mary Lou on Friday, December 13th, 2019, at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital. She was just 67. To know Mary Lou was to know that you’d been touched by an exceptional individual. Put simply, she made a difference. Enriching lives around her with her grace, humour and a truly loving nature. She was endearing with her “Lou-isms”, a quick wit and quirky off-the-wall facial expressions. She was respected as a fiercely caring advocate of what is right and was loved for her genuine depth of compassion for others.

That Last Night
That last night we showered her with love because
that’s what she’d done for us our whole lives.
That last night we told her how proud we were to be her
family and what an inspiration she’d been to us.
That last night she shed tears listening to messages from her grandkids.
That last night we wiped our eyes and advocated for the best care for her.
That last night we sat in silence with her, holding her, comforting her. Loving her.

Mary Lou was Mom to Seana Almer (McCrodan) and Gavin McCrodan; Stepmom to Paul, Nicola, Jeremy and Phaedra; Gramma to Accalia, Isabela, Logan, Maddie, Kieran, Lucy, Justine, Kyle, Chantel, Dylan, Ethan and Bailey; and wife and best friend to Martin. She lived with her heart fully-engaged and she passed surrounded by love.
A Celebration of Mary Lou’s life will be held at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1 Dunmore Road SE on Friday, December 20th, 2019 at 2.00 p.m. and on Saturday, January 11th, 2020 in Burlington Ontario – venue & time TBA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Medicine Hat and District Health Foundation. 104, 430 – 6th Avenue SE Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 2S8. Condolences may be sent to subject heading Mary Lou McCrodan-Povey.

Mary-lou will be greatly missed by all, and she will be remembered for a long time because she was full of fun and laughter plus a perfectionist and loved her favorite armchair at her office at the Wellington.
She loved working at the Wellington and enjoyed being with the residents and staff who loved her because she was always there to assist anyone who needed help and attended many special events at the Wellington. One thing that she really enjoyed was her Maple Walnut ice cream.
She loved her family and enjoyed shared many stories at the lunch table after she got back from her visits telling us of the fun and laughter with them.
I pray with my whole heart that the family will find peace and with the love of God who will give them courage and strength through there grieving. Mary-lou will always be remembered in everyone's hearts and minds, pictures, conversations through laughter and crying by all, but the Lord God will be there.
