Obituary for Mary Buscholl

With heavy hearts, the family of Mary Buscholl announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother. After a brief battle with ovarian cancer, Mary passed away at South Country Village, Haven House, with her loving family by her side on October 17, 2022, at the age of 88 years. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Audrey; sons, Ray (Cindy), Ron (Lydia), and Russel (Kim); daughter-in-law, Carol; eight grandchildren,Brayden, Jarrett, Tanya, Haley (Nate), Rianna (Karsten), Josh, Evan, Samantha (Braden); four great-grandchildren, Eric, Dirk, Peyton, Ava; brothers, Joe (Peggy), Ed (Irene), Mike (Anne); sister, Marlene (Ron) Duchscherer; sisters-in-law, Jeanette, Donna, Eleanore; and many nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband, Jim (2020); her parents, Mike and Barbara (nee Duchscherer) Weisgerber; sons, Joseph (at childbirth) and Roy (2016); brothers, Wilf, Vic and Bill. Mary was born January 15, 1934, in Prelate, Saskatchewan and grew up on the family farm near Sceptre, Saskatchewan. She received her education at Bell School. Mary married her childhood sweetheart, Jim Buscholl, October 28, 1952, and they made their home on the Buscholl family farm, only ½ a mile from where she grew up. Mary and Jim retired to Medicine Hat in 1993. Mary loved to cook for her growing family. Mary was a terrific cook, but she made the best noodles! There were rarely any leftovers so, needless to say, her “growing” family grew not only in numbers but also in pounds because we all loved her noodles. Whenever she had the urge to make her amazing Cream Noodles, it was all hands-on-deck, and the family would have a production line going, everyone with their job to do. We all have wonderful memories of good food, a great game of canasta, and lots of love and laughter shared around Mary’s kitchen table. Mary also enjoyed gardening, playing cards and socializing. Besides supporting Jim’s efforts on his many Boards, Mary was a long time CWL member, sang in the church choir for a time and always helped cook for many Fall Suppers and funeral lunches.
