Obituary

It is with heartfelt sadness and joy for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of Marjorie Middleton on Friday, October 11th, 2019 at the age of 100 years. Marj would have been 101 on November 7. Marjorie was predeceased by her mother, Isabela (Atkinson) Middleton who passed away when Marjorie was 3 years old. Her little brother, Charles Edward passed away when she was 8. Her father, Edward Middleton and her sister, Agnes Alice each reached the age of 98 years. Marjorie was an extremely intelligent and caring woman. She was a registered nurse with a diploma in teaching and supervision. She worked 10 years at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Second Street SE and then 20 years for the Medicine Hat Health Unit. She was a long-time member of St. John's Presbyterian Church and held various offices in the local Women's Missionary Society. Her church family was very important to her. Through her actions and conversations she taught everyone who came in contact with her to appreciate the simple things in life. She was always keen to learn and was very up to date with current events. She was a joy to visit and spend time with. Marj had many happy friendships over the years. A number of cousins and their families she was happy to call family. They were a joy to her. The surviving cousins are, Lorna Phaff, Robert and Gail Pender, Ronald Douglas, all of Medicine Hat; Ann and John Sheer of Strathmore, AB and Judy and Michael Vincent of Canmore, AB. Grateful thanks to Tanis and Al Garden of Medicine Hat and Margot and Terry Mack of Regina, SK. Very special thanks to Steve and Debra Phaff of Irvine for their much appreciated care of her. Thank you for Valleyview Age Care for being Marj's home for the past several years. A Graveside Service will be held at HILLSIDE CEMETERY, Gershaw Drive SW & 10 Avenue SW, on Monday, October 21st, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Dr. Nancy Cocks officiating. Anyone attending can meet at the gates of the cemetery at 12:45 p.m. and follow Saamis Memorial's car to the graveside. A reception will be held immediately following at Saamis Creekside Centre. Marjorie was such an amazing donor to the Medicine Hat and Distrcit Food Bank. She faithfully sent in her donation through the mail with a handwritten note. We were Lucky enough to meet her last year after delivering an Iris to thank her for her amazing dedication to our organization. Every month, since, we have recieved an update on the plant and on her care of it! She will be desperately missed by our organization and staff.. we would love to thank her for all of her support over the years.
