Marie passed away suddenly in Medicine Hat on May 24, 2021 at the age of 64. Marie is lovingly remembered by her best friend Sue and her sisters, Frances (Steve), Barbara and Louise (Todd); stepchildren, Andrew (Deborah), John (Naomi), Angela (Gregory), James (Rhonalyn); brothers, Leslie (Pam), Robert, Lavern (Linda), Dennis, Thomas and David and nephews/nieces, Nicki (Cody), Michael, Tracey, Todd Jr., Tyler, Andrew, Robin and Jackson. Marie is sorrily missed by her precious champion animals Matilda and Mr. Jack Floppy. Marie was predeceased by her husband, Terry; her parents, Betty and Frank Minard of Edmonton and the joy of her life, her beloved dog Violet. Marie was born in Vermillion, a small town serving a farming community in east central Alberta. She was the first of Betty and Frank Minard's family of 10 children. They were farmers in the Vermillion area. By the time Marie was 6, they had moved into the hamlet of Clandonald, not too far from Vermilion. When Marie was around 9 yrs old, and by now had 4 brothers and 3 sisters, the family moved to Edmonton. Marie was a people person. From a very young age, she was friendly, outgoing and loved to talk to people. She so valued the people in her life and focused on building relationships. During her teens, her passion and talent for fashion emerged. She has always loved shopping for clothes and accessories and loved expressing herself thorough her beautiful and stylish outfits. As a teenager of the 60s, she fit right into the music and culture. Her favourite band was 3 Dog Nights and she loved their song "Joy to the World". In 1983, Marie married John. Their marriage was short lived and they never had children. Instead, she expressed her motherly instincts by supporting and sharing the load with her sister Louise through those early years of raising children. Marie was a loving, present and active Auntie to TJ, Andrew and Jackson. She encouraged them to explore their interests and embedded herself in their lives. Marie also loved her time with her Mom and Dad, especially on Sundays, for a church service and brunch. In 2006, Marie moved to Brooks, AB. She was happy to be living close to her sister Fran, Steve and her nephews Tyler and Robin. She began to grow her new family of beloved furbabies - both dogs and cats. She met Terry Carpenter and they were married in May, 2008. Marie was happy to settle into her new family and delighted to be a step-mother to Terry's adult children. In the late 2010's Terry and Marie moved to Medicine Hat. They were faithful attenders of the Salvation Army Church where Marie was involved in the ladies ministry. Marie also became close friends with her new neighbor Sue.Terry passed away suddenly in October 2020. Just as Marie was getting comfortable and excited about building her new life, making her home her own and planting her gardens with help from her sisters, she unexpectedly and quickly passed away in her home from a heart condition. Marie loved life, her fur babies, her family and her friends. She had a kind and generous heart and she loved the simple pleasures of life - being outdoors, walking her dogs, out for dinner, relaxing and reading a good book.
