1933 ~ Margaret Hobson ~ 2022
Margaret Hobson of Medicine Hat, passed away on Friday, May 20th, 2022 at the age of 88 years. Margaret is survived by her children, Simon (Karen) Hobson and Linda (Jack) Stickel; grandchildren, Micheal Stickel, Mark (Lita Ryanti) Stickel, Sarah (Marco) Franchetto, Andrew (Shantele) Hobson, Adam Hobson, Amanda Hobson (Greg Devlin), and Samantha Hobson; sister, Norma in England; six great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, James “Jim” Hobson; parents, Norman and Melinda Firth; and grandchild, Clayton Hobson. Margaret was born on June 20th, 1933 to Norman and Melinda Firth in England, where she was raised and educated. On November 12th, 1954 she married the love of her life, James “Jim” Hobson in Yorkshire, England and together they had two children. Margaret worked as a seamstress and a window dresser before immigrating to Canada in 1967. When Margaret and Jim came to Canada, they first arrived in Montreal, QC and then made their way to Medicine Hat, AB via Saskatoon, SK over the next 18 months or so. Once the family settled, Margaret ran a receiving home and ceramic studio for a number of years and then later worked at the I.D.A pharmacy. Margaret was a faithful member of the Anglican Church and fellow of the Anglican Church Women. She volunteered at the Medicine Hat Hospital’s gift shop and she enjoyed knitting and sewing. Margaret was able to visit her home country of England more than once, as well as Cyprus and the Northwest Territories of Canada. More than anything, Margaret cherished her family. She loved being a mother, grandmother, and GG. She was fortunate to count many road trips, camping trips, and a few trips abroad with her family as some of her many blessings.
