Obituary for Lurlan Donnette Quast

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lurlan Quast, on Monday, November 2nd, 2020 at the age of 66 years. Lurlan leaves to cherish her memory her son, Daniel (Tracy) VanKlei; mother, Gladys Quast; brother, Brock (Sherry) Quast; sister, Marlyn (Sheldon) Frank; and her very precious granddaughters, McKinley and Jade. She also leaves behind her most cherished nieces, nephews and great nieces, several aunts, uncles and cousins: and her puppy and constant companion, Cali. Lurlan was predeceased by her father, Thomas (Tom) Quast in 2010; and her nephew, Colton Quast in 2020. Lurlan was born in Medicine Hat and began her early life in Schuler, before moving to Lethbridge and later Chilliwack, BC where she began her career in sales and financing. Lurlan also enjoyed time living in Sicamous, Armstrong and Harrison Hot Springs. In 2008, Lurlan returned to Medicine Hat to be closer to family. Family was very important to her. She enjoyed family gatherings, going for drives with her son Dan, listening to her brother Brock sing, coffee visits and/or numerous daily phone visits with her sister Marlyn, and quiet visits with her mom, Gladys. Lurlan also enjoyed spending her winters in Country Roads RV Village in Yuma, Arizona, sewing, (especially a new stocking every Christmas for her grand daughters), and she had recently began getting so much joy from picking up her paint brush again, a passion she shared with her son. Lurlan will be remembered for her sense of humour, her very quick wit, her crazy infectious laugh, and most of all her fun-loving spirit. Due to Covid, there will only be a small service for immediate family at this time. A Celebration of Life will be held and announced at a later date. Those wishing to remember Lurlan may do so through donations to the MH Kidney Foundation. Condolences may be sent through condolences@saamis.com subject heading Lurlan Quast.
