Lorne Krauss of Elkwater, beloved husband of Gloria Krauss, passed away on Wednesday, June 23rd, 2021 at the age of 81 years. Lorne also leaves to cherish his memory his children, Lorna (Joel) Henschke and their children, Bailey and Jacob; Monty (Andrea) Krauss and their children, Kade, Carter, Parker, and Jessa; Kirk (Noella) Krauss and their children, Rhett and Ryder; and Penny (Lee) Pahl and their children Wyatt, Dawson, and Jaxon; brother, Lavern (Shirley) Krauss; and sister, Shirl Volk. Lorne was predeceased by his parents, Jacob and Bertha Krauss as well as brother and sister-in-law, Ken (Diane) Krauss. Lorne was born on February 22nd, 1940 at the Benny farm with his Grandma Scheffelmeier on hand to assist with his and his twin-brother, Lavern’s, arrival. He married the love of his life on November 12th, 1966 and together they moved to their home ranch in the hills by Elkwater where together they raised their family. Lorne enjoyed the ranch-life and all that it offered. He enjoyed roping and golfing and in his later years watching TV. A private celebration of Lorne’s life will will be held at St. Margaret's Church, Eagle Butte, Medicine Lodge on Sunday, June 27th, 2021 at 2:00 pm with Dr. David J. Carter officiating. Friends may gather outside the church provided Covid-19 restrictions are adhered to. Audio will be played outside of the church. Please bring your own chairs if you wish to be seated outside. There will be no reception following the service due to current restrictions.
