Obituary for Lorne Carmen Howell

It is with deep sorrow I announce the passing of my brother, Lorne Carmen Howell of Medicine Hat Alberta on Friday, January 19th, 2024 at the age of 70 years. He was the son of the late Ronald and Dorothy (Mansfield) Howell. Lorne leaves a son, daughter, five grandchildren and a sister, Deborah Crittenden. Lorne was predeceased by his parents; a son: and brother-in-law. Lorne was born in Sydney, NS on May 24, 1953. As a young man he was employed at Seaside Cable as a program director and later with the Canadian Coast Guard. After his service, he moved to Alberta where he worked in Edmonton at the Salvation Army addictions centre. Later, he moved to Medicine Hat, Alberta. Lorne attended River Valley Church where he served as the sound mixer engineer. Lorne had a lifelong passion for audio and film. He was a recipient of a CBC film award. Lorne enjoyed hunting, fly fishing, bicycling, hiking and boating; he was most content being behind the wheel of his boat. Thanks to the members of River Valley Church for the kindness shown to Lorne during his sickness. A special thank you to Pastor Derek Letwinetz for the exceptional care and love given to Lorne during his illness and help finalizing Lorne's affairs.
