Obituary for Lillian Irene Burkart (Ehnisz)

Lillian Irene Burkart of Medicine Hat passed away peacefully on December 30th, 2021 at the age of 98 years. Born to Philip and Anna Ehnisz in a Burstall, SK farmhouse, she was the sixth child in a family of 12 children. She leaves to cherish her memory her two sons, Ken (Yvonne) and Dale (Robbi); five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Viola Deering; as well as numerous nieces and nephews Lillian was pre-deceased by her husband, Herbert, in 2002. Lillian married Herbert Burkart in 1942 and together they farmed near Linacre, SK. In 1946, they left farming so Herb could attend Bible School to prepare for ministry. After completing his training, they lived in Medicine Hat until 1956 where they did part-time itinerant ministry. From 1956 to 1980 they were in full-time pastorates in Macoun, Lipton, Sask. and Winnipeg, Man. Lillian was an ideal pastor’s wife- teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir, entertaining graciously and encouraging people. People responded to her kindness and loved her. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and was a blessing to her family. She was very proud of her family and spoke only positively about her siblings and children.
