Laura Martha Weiss of Medicine Hat passed away on Friday, October 29th, 2021 at the age of 99 years. Laura leaves to cherish her memory her sons, James (JoAnne) Weiss and Ronald (Brenda) Weiss; grandchildren, Ross ( Mellissa) Weiss, and Kristy Weiss; great-grandchildren, Rastyn and Madyx; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Oscar; parents, Daniel and Katherine Moench; brothers, Albert, Edwin, Arthur, Daniel, William and Alfred; sisters, Ottilie, Alvina, and Alma; sisters-in-law, Adala and Elsie, and brother-in-law, Herbert. Laura was born at Burstall, SK on August 1, 1922. Her family moved to Hilda in the 1920’s and operated the general store and butcher shop. She attended school in Hilda and worked at the family business until the family moved to Medicine Hat in 1941. In 1943, she met and married Oscar Weiss. They welcomed two sons and together they raised their family. Laura was an active member of St. Peter Lutheran Church. She enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens and was an excellent cook and baker. She was also a talented and avid painter. Laura was a dedicated mother and wife foremost. She enjoyed the time she spent with her children and grandchildren and enjoyed travelling to many different destinations. The Memorial Service will be held at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 758 - 8th Street SE, Medicine Hat, AB T1A 1M5, on Friday, November 5th, 2021 at 11:00 am with Pastor Shane Hein officiating.
