Joseph Andrew Lutz passed away on Monday, May 31st, 2021 at the age of 91 years surrounded by his family. He is lovingly remembered by his sons, Ken (Eileen) Lutz, Allan (Debra) Lutz and daughter, Myra Lutz (Cliff Berreth); seven grandchildren, Kendra Lutz (Dan Somerville), Keri (Will) Lutes, Amber (Brian) Braun, Kimberly Lutz (Scott Graham), Kelly Lutz (Anna Ehret), Justin Lutz, Vicki (Tanner) Betcker; five great-grandchildren, Haileigh and Paige Lutes, Zachary and Hadley Braun, Heidi Betcker; one sister, Margaret (Larry) McKay; brothers and sisters-in law, Jerry and Kay Hager, Mike and Marion Ibach; as well as many nieces and nephews. Joe was predeceased by his wife, Irene; his parents, Frank and Susanna Lutz; step mother, Edna Lutz; sister, Anna Marie Koenig; brothers and sister-in-law, Tony and Katherine Ibach, Henry Ibach, Joseph Lesmeister. Joe was born on the family homestead on August 20, 1929 near Liebenthal, SK. He met the love of his life at a church social in 1951. In the spring of 1952, they moved to the family homestead near Liebenthal where they resided until moving to Medicine Hat in 1989. Joe still helped his sons farm for many years before fully retiring and was always interested in what was happening on the farm. Joe and Irene were avid card players always ready for a game. Joe enjoyed many sports especially baseball which he umped and coached when his sons were young; as well as playing horseshoes and curling. When they retired he enjoyed his big backyard garden. He was a long time member of the Knights of Columbus.

A Funeral Mass will be held at HOLY FAMILY PARISH, 1451 Strachan Road SE, medicine hat, AB T1B 4V3 on Friday, June 4th, 2021 at 1:00 pm with Fr. Iqbal Khurshid celebrant. Family and friends are welcome to participate via livestream by logging on to the Holy Family Parish page at www.youtube.com/ at 12:40 pm. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
