Obituary for John Edward Sehn

Mr. John Sehn, husband of the late Mrs. Caroline (Eresman) Sehn of Medicine Hat, passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at the age of 86 years. John leaves to cherish his memory four children, Lennie (Melanie) Sehn of Leader, SK, Linda Hamnett (Chris Girden) of Medicine Hat, AB, Marilyn Kallechy of Swift Current, SK, and Emily (Lawrence) Casey of Loreburn, SK, nine Grandchildren, Mike Taupert (Michelle Parenteau), Kerri (Ryan) Unger, Mandy (Marc) Lavallee, Derek (Pam) Kallechy, Floyd Kallechy, Sarah McLean, Jonathan Sehn (Danielle Koenen), Samantha Kallechy, Tanya (Braten) Kirkwood, 14 great Grandchildren, one brother, Gabe (Josephine) Sehn, six brother in laws, Valentine (Pauline) Eresman, Casper (Arlene) Eresman, Matt (Connie) Eresman, Ron (Gladys) Eresman, Stanley (Charolette) Eresman and Tony (Charolette) Eresman; one sister-in-law, Gladys (Leo) Schneider; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his parents, Gabriel and Emily Sehn; one grandson in infancy; one son in law Owen Kallechy; two sisters, nine brothers. John was born on the family farm in Fox Valley, SK on September 1, 1932. On April 19, 1954, he married Caroline Eresman in Johnsbourough, SK and they settled in Richmound. They later moved to Fox Valley and then to Sceptre where John was a heavy Equipment operator for 35 years. John was an outstanding Fastball player and had a true love for playing the sport of golf. In the mid 1990’s, John and Caroline moved to Medicine Hat where he worked at the Cotton Wood Golf Course as the greens keeper for 4 years. He was also the Fire Marshall for their condo association at the Grandview Villa for a number of years. He will be lovingly remembered by all his family and friends. By request from John, a service will be held at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, on Friday, June 7, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. A Private Family Interment will take place at Saamis Prairie View Cemetery. Memorial gifts in John’s memory may be made to the Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation, 28 Oki Drive NW, Calgary, Alberta, T3B 6A8.
