Obituary for Jack Bischoff

Jacob Pius “Jack” Bischoff of Medicine Hat, beloved husband of Verna Bischoff, passed away on Sunday, March 28th, 2021 at the age of 91 years. Jack leaves to cherish his memory wife, Verna; children, Brenda (Melvin) Hittel, Leslie (Bev) Bischoff, Wanda (Brian) Munro, Murray (Connie) Bischoff, and Blanche (Lorry) Bakke; grandchildren, Melanie (Kelly) Robb, Stacy Hittel, Renee (Chris) Mealing, Stewart (Stef) Munro, Nicole (Mitch) Clarke, Shaelyn Bischoff, Nevada Bischoff, Morgan (Chad) Hingley, and Taylor (Brock) McAtamney; great-grandchildren, Brennan Robb, Meaghan Robb, Deacon Mealing, Haddie Mealing, Tripp Mealing, Sawyer Clarke, Adaline Clarke, Coltson Munro, Boden Munro, Aubree Hingley, Rylee Hingley, Kinley Hittel and Jace Hittel; sister-in-law, Hilda Schwartz; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jack was predeceased by his parents, George and Felicia Bischoff; siblings, Catherine (Nels) Folk, Mary Joe) Lutz, Helen (Kasper) Hirsch, Barbara (Peter) Heidrich, Lena (Roy) Wist, Valentine (Christina) Bischoff; Frank Bischoff, Ivy (Bill) Bonogofsky, and Rose (Henry) Duschererer; mother and father-in-law, Martin and Elizabeth Schwartz; and brothers- and sisters-in-law, Joe Schwartz, Tillie (Oly) Meyer, and Bill Schwartz. Jack was born August 9th, 1929 in the Liebenthal, SK area on the family farm where he was raised. In 1945, he moved with his family to Prelate and attended Nicefield School. He worked at various jobs in and around the Prelate area. He married his sweetheart Verna on April 21st, 1952 and they moved and settled in Medicine Hat, AB. That same year Jack began his lifelong career with the Defense Research Establishment of Suffield (DRES) where he continued to work until his retirement in 1983. Jack and Verna were enthusiastic travellers and they enjoyed many vacations together. He was an avid sports fan and he enjoyed all sports. He particularly fancied a good game of darts. Jack’s biggest accomplishment was his family and he loved spending time with his grandchildren. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects, sign the register, and offer their condolences at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1 Dunmore Road SE, Medicine Hat, AB T1A 1Z5, on Sunday, April 4th, 2021 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, social distancing measures will be enforced and masks are required. All guests are requested to enter through the front door of the funeral home. A private Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Parish, 1451 Strachan Road SE, MEDICINE HAT, AB T1B 4V3 on Monday, April 5th, 2021 with Fr. Iqbal Khurshid officiating. Attendance at the church is by family invitation. Family and friends are welcome to participate via livestream by logging on to the Holy Family Parish page at www.youtube.com at 10:00 am Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
