Obituary for Henry Drescher

Hank Drescher passed away suddenly at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Saturday, October 2nd, 2021 at the age of eighty-four years. He is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Hazel and will also be lovingly remembered by his four daughters, Terri and Colin, Marlene and Gary, Carol and Jason, Cora and Greg; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister Cora, one sister-in-law, Marlene (Robert); two brothers-in-law, Keith (Dot) and Murray (Joanne); as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Henry is pre-deceased by his seven brothers and three sisters. Henry was employed by the City of Medicine Hat for thirty years. Following his retirement in 1992, he was free to pursue his avocation as an avid camper/hunter and fisherman. His passion for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren filled his later years when he was not competing at cribbage with his wife Hazel, watching the Toronto Blue Jays, gardening and making sausage in the fall. Keeping his home and yard in ‘viewing’ condition occupied morning hours most days after he watched the sun come up and made morning coffee. Henry will be remembered as a caring, generous, quiet, man to be counted on when you needed something. If he did not have one in his collection garages, he had the expertise to make it in his small shop. He loved to ‘tinker’ and create things you did not even know you needed until you saw how well it worked. The memorial service will take place at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, Medicine Hat, AB on Thursday, October 7th, 2021 at 3:00 pm with Pastor Shane Hein officiating. Due to current provincial Covid-19 restrictions, attendance will be limited to a maximum of 50 persons.
