Obituary for Hazel Agnes Hedin (McNaught)

Hazel Agnes Hedin of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late Arthur Hedin, passed away on Saturday, August 24th, 2019 at the age of 90 years. Hazel leaves to cherish her memory her children, Errol (Angie Wakelin) Hedin and Wendy (Ray) Bonertz; grandchildren, Erik (Sunny) Lemen, Bjorn (Margareta) Hedin, Carla Hedin, Warren Hedin, Dwayne (Kelly) Fournel, Ryan (Anna) Fournel; great-grandchildren, Adrian Fournel, Matteo Fournel, Morgan Fournel, William Fournel, Sam Lemen, Michael Lemen, Rikka Hedin, and Elaina Suggett. Hazel was predeceased by her loving husband, Arthur; parents, James and Mabel McNaught; brother, Max McNaught; and sister, Dorothy Chisholm. Hazel was born on March 22nd, 1929 in Calgary, AB, but spent most of her life in Medicine Hat. It was here that she met and married the love of her life, Art, on May 3, 1952. Hazel enjoyed working at the British Army Training Base for many years, was active in Fifth Avenue United Church and as a board member for Horizon Village. Hazel doted on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and she will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, Medicine Hat, AB T1A 1Z5 on Wednesday, August 28th, 2019 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at Fifth Avenue Memorial United Church, 476 4 Street SE, Medicine Hat, AB, on Thursday, August 29th, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor David Pollard officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery. Memorial gifts in Hazel's memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society, 201, 770 – 6th Street SW, Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 4J6, Schizophrenia Society of Alberta, Medicine Hat Branch, 526B – 3rd Street SE, Medicine Hat, AB T1A 0H3 or to the Alberta Heart & Stroke Foundation, 200, 119 – 14th Street NW, Calgary, AB T1A 7L5
