Gerald was born and raised in Medicine Hat; he was an active member of several community groups, as well as serving on the provincial dairy board on several committees. He was a Kinsmen life member, Farmhouse alumni, Westminster church board member, and member of the Seven Persons grazing association. He was a proud dairy farmer and produced the highest quality products. In 1996 he and Dallas were the recipients of the Alberta/NWT Canada’s Outstanding Young Farmer Award; in 2014 the farm was honoured as the Cypress County farm family of the year, and he was also very pleased to be named the most improved hockey player in the University of Alberta Men’s Recreational league when he was a young adult, as he hadn’t played as a child. He enjoyed travelling, dancing, the performing arts, and experiencing new food, music, and cultures. He will be dearly missed.

The Funeral Service will be held at WESTMINSTER UNITED CHURCH, 101 - 6th Street SE, on Monday, March 2nd, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Lynn McKinnon officiating.
