Obituary for Gerald R. Weiss

Gerald R. Weiss
May 24, 1956- February 22, 2020

Gerald, beloved husband of 38 years to Dallas, passed away suddenly from a stroke during a family holiday in California. Gerald will be fondly remembered by his children, Drew (Leah), Justin (Cara) and children, Quade, Aven, McKinley and Danielle (Tyrell) and children, Genevieve, Tristan, Audrey; his mother, Matilda; his brother, Keith (Kim); his mother-in-law, Marie Bradshaw; aunt, Bev Finlay; brothers-in-law, Rod (Shelley) and Gordon (Cheryl); his nephews, Quintin (Allison), Parker, Kurt, Brent, Kristopher; niece, Blaire; his aunts, Pauline, Violet, Sandra (Ernie), Gladys, Elaine, Elsie (Gerry), Laura, Grace; and uncles, Edwin (Shirley) and Charles (Rosalie). He was predeceased by his father, Herb; father-in-law, David Bradshaw; his brother, Gregory; and baby sister Weiss, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Gerald was born and raised in Medicine Hat; he was an active member of several community groups, as well as serving on the provincial dairy board on several committees. He was a Kinsmen life member, Farmhouse alumni, Westminster church board member, and member of the Seven Persons grazing association. He was a proud dairy farmer and produced the highest quality products. In 1996 he and Dallas were the recipients of the Alberta/NWT Canada’s Outstanding Young Farmer Award; in 2014 the farm was honoured as the Cypress County farm family of the year, and he was also very pleased to be named the most improved hockey player in the University of Alberta Men’s Recreational league when he was a young adult, as he hadn’t played as a child. He enjoyed travelling, dancing, the performing arts, and experiencing new food, music, and cultures. He will be dearly missed.

The Funeral Service will be held at WESTMINSTER UNITED CHURCH, 101 - 6th Street SE, on Monday, March 2nd, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Lynn McKinnon officiating. Memorial gifts in Gerald's memory may be made to the Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation, 28 Oki Drive NW, Calgary, Alberta, T3B 6A8. Condolences may be sent to subject heading Gerald Weiss.

Weiss Family
We are so sorry to hear of Gerald's passing. He will be missed by so many. He was such a warm and friendly man, it was always a pleasure to run into him and have a little visit. One thing that was always obvious was how proud Gerald was of his Family and his Dairy Farm.
You are all in our thoughts and prayers.
with deepest sympathy
