Frieda Katharina Gehring of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late Leonard Gehring, passed away on Thursday, December 15th, 2022 at the age of 90 years. Frieda leaves to cherish her memory her son, Greg (Darlynne) Gehring; daughters, Debbie (Vic) Simmons, Cheryl (Al) Kessler, and Kim (Gilles) Brazeau; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Alice Stickle; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and her Masterpiece family. Frieda was predeceased by her husband, Leonard Gehring; parents, Emanuel and Katharina Anhorn; as well as her seven brothers. Frieda was born in the Hatton, SK area and moved to Medicine Hat at 13 years old. Frieda operated a private kindergarten for 20 years. She also volunteered at AHS and in palliative care for 20 years. Len and Frieda were very active and enjoyed travelling and cruises. Frieda sang in choirs, line danced, curled, and watched curling. She loved to socialize, visit, dance, play cards, and board games. She lived in Masterpiece and enjoyed meeting new people. The family would like to give thanks from the bottom of our hearts for all the care and love that Mom received at Masterpiece. We know you will miss her as well. A Celebration of Life for both Frieda and her brother, Oster Anhorn, will be held at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE on Saturday, January 14th, 2023 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Jamie McDdonald officiating. A Private Interment for immediate and extended family will take place prior to the Celebration of Life at SAAMIS PRAIRIE VIEW CEMETERY, 5160 Gershaw Dr SW, Medicine Hat, AB T1B 3N2 at 12:30 pm. For those wishing to attend, please arrive at the cemetery at 12:20 pm.
