Obituary for Flynn Edward Humphreys

Flynn Edward Humphreys passed away on February 2nd, 2023 at the age of 66 years. Born in Swift Current, SK on February 24th, 1956. He is survived by his loving wife, Donna Humphreys, of 45 years. He was a very proud father and grandfather to his two daughters and their families, Jennifer Humphreys (Matthew Field) and daughters, Wendell Marie and Millie James, Kari Oster (Vance) and daughter, Donny Ray. He is also survived by his sister, Brenda (Doug) Cursons of Yorkton, SK; and brother, Clark Humphreys of Carstairs, AB. Flynn was predeceased by his father, Clifford Humphreys; mother, Dorothy Grisdale; stepfather, Cy Grisdale; father-in-law, Don Cowan; his grandparents, William and Sylvia Humphreys. Flynn and Donna were married on October 22nd 1977, then moving to Medicine Hat where Flynn began his career in the Oilpatch with Computalog LTD. Flynn had a very competitive nature, competing as a high level athlete at both high school and university levels. Later, he discovered a passion for golf. He loved drag racing and the world of cars, never missing the opportunity to watch the annual Barret-Jackson Auction. Flynn had a deep passion for computers and technology, leading him to a new world exploring genealogy and networking all across the world with fellow car lovers. He was very interested in research on the World Wars, of which both his grandfather and father served in. In recent years, Flynn began VTS, a video transfer service, involving transferring VHS and camcorder home videos to DVD and memory sticks creating precious memories for families to enjoy. Flynn enjoyed watching and cheering on his daughter’s various sports, often volunteering with these organizations. Flynn was known for his witty sense of humour, enjoying many many hours of conversations with his neighbours. Despite his physical disability, Flynn’s dedication to his family and his determination enabled him to face his personal challenges. Special thanks to our neighbours and caregivers for your friendship and support over the past 35 years. Also special thanks to the doctors and nursing staff for the exceptional care in the ICU at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital. A private memorial will be held at a later date. We miss you greatly but knowing you’re walking in heaven, brings us peace.
