Elmer Mayer, beloved husband of Gladys Mayer of Medicine Hat, passed away on Saturday, October 12th, 2019 at the age of 85 years. Elmer also leaves to cherish his memory his children, Shelley (Thomas) Rennie, Karen (Donald) Biccum and Keith (Beverlee) Mayer; five grandchildren, Matthew (Jordan) Rennie, Amanda (Tyler) Risling, Alisha (Justin) Murray, Kyle Chesal and Jessica Mayer; five great grandchildren, Alexandra, Tianna, Lydia, Austin and Abigail; one sister, Gladys Quast; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Elmer was predeceased by his parents, Adolph and Magdaline Mayer; one brother, Harvey Mayer; and one sister, Florence Nelsen. Elmer was born on February 23rd, 1934 in Pashley, Alberta. He married Gladys on September 27th, 1957 in Medicine Hat and was employed at Hycroft China for 35 years. Elmer loved traveling, the outdoors, camping and fishing. He was a very talented carpenter and enjoyed building and making furniture. Elmer was a very loving, kind man who had a great sense of humour. Above all else, Elmer loved his family and was very proud of them. A Private Family Graveside Service will take place at Hillside Cemetery.
