Doug leaves to cherish his memory his daughters, Jennifer (Austin) Tondevold, Sarah (Travis) Bramble, Lori Jo (Gary) Schmidt; grandchildren, Rebekah Tondevold, Emily Tondevold, Tyler Tondevold, Ethan Tondevold, Dylan Tondevold, Samuel Tondevold, Joseph Schmidt, Mason Schmidt, Brianna Bramble; brothers, Jack (Marci) Peterson and Ron (Sherry) Peterson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Doug was predeceased by his wife, Linda (Jones) Peterson; parents, Howard and Eva Peterson. He was born to Joseph Howard and Eva (Perrett) Peterson on January 12, 1954, in Lethbridge, Alberta. He grew up in Stirling, Alberta, as part of one of the founding families with his two younger brothers Jack and Ron. The family moved to Taber, Alberta where Doug finished highschool and eventually met and married a cowgirl named Linda . They settled and raised their three daughters in Grassy Lake, Alberta. After many years as a truck driver and starting a trucking company of his own, and raising his family, he finally got to live out his dream of working as a cowboy with his wife for the Rosemary Grazing Association. Here he spent his time training his working collie dogs, riding and loving his horses, and treating the cattle with kindness and compassion. Doug and Linda then settled down in Medicine Hat, Alberta. Here they participated in their local congregation and especially enjoyed their weekly Family Home Evening group. These new friends were a huge support to Doug when Linda passed away and continued to stay in touch during his struggles with his health the years following. Doug always had a story to tell, a smile to share, and a helping hand to give. He will be missed by those who knew him and especially his daughters and nine grandchildren. The private Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1865 Division Avenue NE, Medicine Hat, AB T1C 1W4, on Tuesday, December 14th, 2021 with Bishop Ralph Daniels officiating.
