Obituary for Dalhia Mary Gregory (Johnson)

Dalhia Mary (Johnson), born May 2, 1929 in England, died while asleep on October 16, 2022 at the age of 93. Known to many who survive her as Dally, Mom, and Nanny, she was a creative who composed stories, poetry, and music, sang, and played the organ and accordion, drew silly pictures as easily as she painted landscapes, and loved growing beautiful flowers. Many benefited from her skilled knitting and crocheting and lovely, delicate wedding cakes.  Dally married Frank Kenneth Gregory on February 21, 1953. In their life together, they built many homes in communities across Canada, and served Jehovah in the full-time ministry which brought them great joy.  Every home they had a vegetable garden, flowers, bird feeders and a clothesline. Frank predeceased Dally on November 2, 2015.

Dally is survived by their three sons, Daniel (Jane) Gregory, Timothy (Linda) Gregory, and Andrew (Gloria) Gregory. She had a special love for her seven grandchildren, Mindy, Alicia, and Samuel, Jennifer and Jason, Jonathan and Amanda. One of Dally’s compositions was a song dedicated to her grandchildren titled Everything’s Coming Up Roses: “Life is sweeter than before…and you’re the reason why…” Dally was also grandmother to ten great-grandchildren, Karen and Dylan, Benjamin and Sara, Parker and Myca, Ava and Kira, Brennan and Presleigh.
Dally had an abiding love for Jehovah, and a deeply held belief in a coming resurrection into a paradise earth where there will be life without sickness and death. (Revelations 21: 3, 4) Dalhia expressed to us that when she awakes in the resurrection, she will live in a small brick cottage next to a babbling stream, her cottage will be full of peace and happiness with her family and friends surrounding her, she will have beautiful gardens and care for all of Jehovah’s living creatures. To understand Dalhia’s hope for her future please read her poem attached in her photo gallery called “ A Very Special Dream.”

A special thanks to the Care Staff at River Ridge in Medicine Hat for the loving care you provided for Dally. To her supportive friend Della Ortwin, we appreciate the time you gave to Dally and always helping her to get her weekly spiritual food from Jehovah. To Rosanne Gregory, thank you for all your love and support, it truly is appreciated.
Dally was loved by all who met her, and she will be greatly missed.
Dalhia requested there be no memorial service or funeral. Please browse through the posted photographs to learn more about Dahlia through her beautiful writings.
