Obituary for Betty Lee Surina

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Betty Lee on December 29th, 2022 at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital. Her loving family was at her side. She is survived by her precious mother, Katherine; her twin sister, Debbie; her wonderful brother-in-law, Lyle Eskestrand; her special nephew, Koby; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends—Betty loved you all. She was predeceased by her dear father, Arnie and her nephew, Connor. Betty Lee was born on August 7th, 1962 at the Medicine Hat Hospital. She made a grand entrance weighing only 1 pound and 7.5 ounces. She grew up in Hilda, AB and graduated from Medicine Hat High School. Following that, she enrolled in computer courses and became a meticulous and skilled engraver. She was a dedicated volunteer at several organizations such as MADD and Unisphere. Betty’s passions included reading, music, artwork, as well as reality and Christian television programs. She had a special love for seahorses and a vast collection of everything involving them. She really enjoyed family game nights, baking contests, and watching the “Home Alone” movies over and over with her beloved nephew, Koby. We wish to thank Dr. Jeff Bratvold who was there for our every need. We appreciated you more than words can say. We extend our gratitude to the many medical staff, physicians, nurses, paramedics, and health care workers who provided such wonderful care to Betty Lee and her family.
