With Papa’s passing, things have been tough. I definitely haven’t felt the same. It’s been harder than I could have possibly imagined. On my way to Medicine Hat, I heard a comedian on the radio say , “ you think you know your grandparents, but they were like 50 when you were born.” You I never thought about that. Balser was 51 when I was born. Lived a full life already. I wish I had spent more time picking his brain about all the history he lived through and asking all about our family. I have suddenly this need to find out and I have been asking lots. I wish I had asked him, but when we spent time with Dorothy and Balser, it was never about them. It was always about us. They always cared and took a big interest in our lives. I did get to spend some time with Dorothy after and ask my questions. I had an ancestry DNA done and I went that over with her. Papa will be deeply missed. And we all wish for one more day.

I could not have asked for a better relationship with Balser. I cherish the times we got to spend together and the months I lived with Dot and Balser in the Hat; he became like a second father to me; a man I could count on, call for advice, confide in, laugh with, and was always guaranteed a hug and a kiss. You are a hard act to follow, Balser; a hero to look up to, a role model. Your absence is felt deeply and our hearts break to have lost you so soon and so suddenly and under these circumstances.
Until we meet again. ❤️

Dear Dad, I am proud that you were my father and mentor. You taught me the love of mechanics and family. You taught me to be responsible and to care for my family. I have lived the kind of hard working respectful life you showed me. I am glad we always kept in touch and you were able to share time with Di and I until almost the end. We are at peace now because of the love and respect you always showed me and my family. I will continue your legacy by showing your grandsons to live with respect and love for others. We will share stories of laughter about Dad, Papa and Big Papa. I will continue to make you proud of me. I will always cherish the last words we shared.
"your work is done you've been set free.
So rest in peace, rest in peace
It's so hard to understand how to let go of your hand.
To let you fly with new found wings to the land where angels sing.
So rest in peace, rest in peace"

Dear Dad: Your sudden passing has left a deep sadness in my heart, I find it surreal as I feel like I can still pick up the phone and talk to you.I try to take solace in that your suffering was minimal and that you passed away peacefully in the comforts of your home.I believe your caring and compassionate nature showed right to the end, as you would've wanted your family to suffer as little as possible at the hands of this horrific disease.Proud to call you my dad, miss you. Love Kevin
