Obituary for Audrey Muriel Stricker

Audrey Muriel Stricker was born on the Burman homestead farm near Bredenbury, Sk. Audrey went to the Clumber Elementary School and attended high school through correspondence. She kept active during her adolescent years and always enjoyed a game of softball with her siblings and cousins. After completing school, she moved to Yorkton, SK and worked as a housekeeper for the family of well-known Saskatchewan curler, Ernie Richardson. Audrey contributed to the war effort by moving with her cousin, Gladys, to Fort William, Ontario where they worked assembling airplanes. After the war, Audrey moved to Regina to begin her career as a SaskTel telephone operator. While working at SaskTel, Audrey became friends with Ruth Stricker who arranged a blind date with her brother, Bill. Audrey and Bill were married in 1961 and in 1962 they moved to Maple Creek where their son, Calvin, was born. She was an active member of the Lutheran Ladies Aid, participated in the Horticultural Society, and served on the Boy Scouts Ladies’ Auxiliary. In later years, Audrey moved to the Cypress Lodge where she lived until her passing at the age of 97 years. She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, William ‘Bill’ Stricker; her parents Frank and Alice Burman; her in-laws, Carl and Emilia Stricker; her brothers, Ernie Burman, Gerald (Darlene) Burman, and Norman Burman; her sisters, Mildred (Norman) Miller, and Merle (Edwin) McLachlan; Bill’s sisters, Hermaine (Wilfred) Breehn, and Ruth Bouey; and Audrey’s brother-in-law, Gerald Taylor. Left to cherish her memory is her son, Calvin Stricker; her sister, Lynn Taylor; her sister-in-law, Helen Burman; her brother-in-law, Clifford Bouey; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
