Obituary for Alessandro Fulgenzi

Alessandro (Alex) Fulgenzi passed away peacefully at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on May 8th, 2021. Alex is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Maria Fulgenzi. He is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Ida Fulgenzi and her husband, Jamie Dumonceaux; his son, Tony Fulgenzi and his wife, Jennifer; his grandson, Peter Fulgenzi; his sister, Gilda Camilli and her family; and his brother-in-law, Domenic Antonacci. Alex was predeceased by many good
friends with whom he always shared fond memories.

Alex came to Canada from Italy with very little, worked hard and sacrificed much so that his family could have the running start in life that he deserved but never had. Alex spent much of his working years at what was once the Calgary General Hospital. He held many positions there, but was most satisfied with his last role at that institution as the facility’s locksmith. Alex was a modest person, but was quietly very proud of becoming a certified tradesman. Never one to stand still, Alex enjoyed hunting trips with his many friends, home construction projects with his family and long motorhome trips with his most steady and resolute ally, Maria. As time advanced, Alex found pleasure in new pastimes. First among those was playing Italian card games with his grandson.

May everyone who was part of Alex’s successes and struggles in life find in their memories of him much strength. May our reflections upon his successes and struggles also give us tools to continue making our own way in life, so in that way Alex continues to live through all of us.
