Obituary for Aldo Pederzolli

Aldo Pederzolli of Medicine Hat, AB passed away peacefully at the age of 91 years on Friday, October 8, 2021. Aldo is survived by his loving wife, Glenda Pederzolli; sons, Randal and Rory Pederzolli; grandchildren, Rachele (Ashton) Robertson and Rae Leigh Pederzolli; great-grandchildren, Paisley, Dryden, and Greeley Robertson. He was predeceased by his parents, Albino and Gemma Pederzolli. Aldo was born on the family farm on May 28, 1930 and found his love of farming and ranching at an early age. He met the love of his life, Glenda Volk and they were married on February 19, 1957. They had two sons, (Randal and Rory) and they began to grow the farm and lived in the original house Aldo built in 1957 up to 2021. Aldo was an extremely hard worker, and could be found working long hours into the night up into his late 80’s. Aldo enjoyed many things in life but none more than life on the farm. In his eyes there was no more exciting time than the harvest season, and almost equally in the spring to get out and working land to prepare for seeding. The cattle business played a large role in his life as well. Whether it be in his own cow/calf herd, his feedlot, or more recently in the purebred business, Aldo enjoyed everything about it. He was very proud to be honoured with a 50 year heritage award with the Canadian Angus Association in 2015. He enjoyed good cattle and even more so the people he got to meet at events and sales across western Canada. In recent years, highlights were making the annual trip to Regina for Canadian Western Agribition and delivering bulls in the spring where he could meet and visit with both new and old customers. He was very proud of the cattle and certainly wasn’t scared to tell you about it. He also had a deep love of hunting and some of his fondest memories were made out with his friends hunting his prize grizzly bear or big horn sheep. He had a deep admiration for animals and livestock, and he devoted his life to looking after them to the best of his ability. Everybody knew Aldo and he could make a stranger feel like they have known each other for years. He loved to visit with people and showed genuine interest in what was going on in their lives. He always had time to visit with someone and was very proud to tell you how well his grandchildren were doing. He had an infectious way about him that made people want to listen to what he had to say. He had a great memory for old stories, and as crazy as most of them were, they were usually true. Aldo had a real zest for life, and really did live his life to the fullest. He will be greatly missed by many. There will be no funeral service held. Memorial gifts in Aldo’s name may be made to the Canadian Wildlife Federation, c/o Donor Relations, 350 Michael Cowpland Drive, Kanata, Ontario K2M 2W1.
