Medicine Hat & District Health Foundation -
“Taking Your Healthcare Beyond The Basics”

Thank you for the opportunity to provide you with an overview of the Medicine Hat & District Health Foundation and the options available to donors.

Who we are
The Medicine Hat & District Health Foundation is a 100% local, registered non-profit charitable organization that is governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees. They were established in June of 1996 to raise funds to support and enhance the quality of healthcare available to the residents of Medicine Hat and the surrounding district.

What we do
The Health Foundation takes an active role in fundraising. Funds are raised through our annual initiatives like the Christmas Telethon, Search For The Stars, direct mail campaigns, raffles and other events such as bed races. Since 1996 the Health Foundation, through the generosity of its donors, has transferred approximately $4.2 million for enhancements at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital and Community Health Services.

The Health Foundation raises funds to purchase healthcare equipment, support programs and undertake renovations that enhance the quality of healthcare at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital. Enhancements serve to increase patient comfort and facilitate patient care. 100% of the donations that the Health Foundation receives are used for healthcare enhancements in Medicine Hat. The Health Foundation does not use any donated funds for administration or operational expenses.

Why we do it
The Provincial Government is responsible for providing basic healthcare. We can make it better! The Health Foundation provides residents, businesses and organizations within Medicine Hat & surrounding district with an opportunity to enhance the quality of healthcare available locally. We can have an impact on the healthcare we receive.

How Donors Can Participate
All donations* intended for the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital or Community Health Services, are handled by the Health Foundation. Donors have many options as to what they can donate and where they designate their donations.

*The Health Foundation cannot take donations for the Cancer Clinic or Ambulance Services
